Knowing the right rituals to be performed during Navratri is very important. Follow the below rituals to be performed during Navratri days.
On the first day of Navratri, in an earthen pot jawar seeds are sown. On the wall, the picture of devi is made using ghee and sindoor.
Now a red cloth is spread across a wooden board. Some rice is kept on the wooden board. Now ‘supari’ is covered with ‘mauli’ and given the shape of Ganesha. Now, Ganesh ji is kept on the rice.
Keep rice at nine places on the board. Now, the earthen pot(with jawar seeds) is kept by its side.
In another pot, Gangajal is filled. The pot is covered with a plate which has rice on it. 5 mango leaves are kept at the side of the plate. A small bundle of grass is kept on the rice by rolling the grass with ‘mauli’. Keep a fresh coconut on the plate.
These are all worshipped daily for 9 days and ‘Durga Sapatshati’ paath is done daily. A small Brahmin girl is fed daily. Fast is done for the nine days. On the eighth day Durga Ashtami is celebrated. On this day Halwa is made. Also, nine girls and one boy(all under 10yrs of age) are fed. They are worshipped and offerings are given to them. People visit Devi temples and worship there. Fresh coconut is offered to Devi.
