Kartik Purnima is also known by as Tripuri Purnima. It is celebrated on the full moon day of the month of Kartik. This festival has great significance for Hindus.
This festival is also known by the name ‘Dev Deepawali’ because it is said on this day the Gods celebrate the festival of Diwali.
On this day Lord Shiva killed the demon Tripurasur, so Kartik Purnima is also called Tripuri Purnima. Many people have bath in the holy river Ganga on Kartik Purnima.
This day is also celebrated as Guru Nanak Jayanti or Gurupurab, to mark the birth of Guru Nanak Dev ji. Guru Nanak Dev ji was the first guru of Sikh. On this day, Sikh people go to Gurudwara and listen to Gurbani. They take the oath to follow the path of Guru Nanak. Langar is also organized in Gurudwara.
